Sparks Named Best Places to Work in Events

If great work is the calling card of an inspired work environment, the event industry has some of the best places to work in corporate America. The biannual special report on the Best Places to Work in Events offers a rare look inside the companies and cultures where inspired ideas are cultivated and top talent thrives.
It’s no small feat, being a Best Place to Work in Events. From the long hours to the crazy travel demands, event marketers are a hardy breed that makes sacrifices not required in many other industries. What keeps them motivated? What makes an event organization an environment where great work gets done? What drives longevity and stickiness when it comes to attracting and retaining the right mix of people and personalities?
To find the answers, Event Marketer Magazine (EM) issued a call for nominations late last year, asking brands, agencies and suppliers to tell us what makes their workplaces the best in the biz. Hundreds applied and winners were determined exclusively on the basis of their employees’ responses to an Employee Engagement Survey sent via Quantum Workplace, the world’s leading employee engagement consultancy. Employee responses were calculated to determine the company’s overall score and ranking and we are thrilled to announce that Sparks is ranked among the best!
Event Marketer Magazine came down to Sparks SoHo to interview some of our talent. The following is the intro of the resulting article with a link to download the piece:
Ahhhh the mighty Sparks. Where do we even begin? Fact is, when you’ve got as many awards as this global event agency has, you’re bound to attract great talent. And when you’ve got Blue Chip clients including Google, Anheuser-Busch, Salesforce and LEGO, you’re bound to retain great talent.
But make no mistake: It’s not the awards and clients that bring in the talent—it’s the talent that brings in the awards and clients. Ask any of the 300-plus Sparks employees (and we’re about to) about the agency and you’ll hear common words such as family, loyalty, trust, fairness, creativity, passion, teamwork. Ask any of the senior executives about their roster and they’ll tell you their people are everything, and nothing creates award-winning events and happy clients like happy people. Over the years this Top 100 It List agency and mega-Ex Award winner has gotten quite the reputation—for treating its people like rock stars with offices designed to promote collaboration, employee perks (cars washed at the office??), meetings held on rooftops, bowling holiday parties, food truck office breaks, and yes, those dog-friendly digs.
Yes, we could go on talking about Sparks and their employees. But we figured we’d actually let some of the employees talk about Sparks. So we headed down to New York City’s SoHo district to catch up with four of the company’s peeps—VP-Events Elena Nicolaidis, Senior Designer Yonathan Persovski, Creative Strategist David Adams and Event Manager Seana Oorloff.
