Groundbreaking mental health treatment non-profit the Headstrong Project invited the Sparks team to attend the organization’s Words of War Gala, an annual benefit to raise funds and awareness, while honoring the inspiring commitment of veterans and those working with veterans who suffer from PTSD.  The organization provides free high-quality mental health care to veterans of post-9/11 wars, and is working to change the discourse and stigma surrounding PTSD.

The event, which took place at Pier 60 in New York City,  featured a discussion panel moderated by Seth Myers and an emotional reading by Jake Gyllenhaal and Caleb Wells. Brandon Stanton, founder of Humans of New York, was also honored for the blog’s summer campaign highlighting the moving stories told by Headstrong’s veterans, their family members, and clinicians. With the crowd moved, an auction commenced, raising $400,000 that evening.

Sparks is proud to have a partnership with Headstrong.  We admire their passion and unwavering dedication towards their vision – to ensure a mentally stable and healthy veteran community.  They truly believe that if veterans have the courage to get help, and they get the right help, they can return to lead meaningful lives.  We have partnered with them to continue to add value to the organization.
