Marie Claire Magazine The Next Big Thing Concept Shop Featured in Event Marketer Magazine
November 22, 2017
Marie Claire magazine and technology partner Mastercard activated The Next Big Thing Concept Shop this fall coinciding with Marie Claire’s October issue. The retail pop-up experience brings to life the newest innovations in fashion, beauty, entertainment and wellness.
The pop-up experience includes three main zones inspired by popular sections in Marie Claire magazine. The shop’s @Work zone served as the “get-ahead guide” to career fashion and success, while @Play functioned as a style guide for nightlife and leisure and @Peak focused on fitness. An app was created so shoppers didn’t have to worry about having cards or cash in hand, they could just open the app and make purchases that second. This gave consumer a glimpse of retail in the future but also helped Marie Claire gather data on what their customers are actually interested in.
The app was only a small piece of the technology used in the space. Smart mirrors from Oak Labs add another layer of customization by recommending additional accessories for outfits brought into dressing rooms. Clarins presents its Sensor Mirror Pro, a virtual skincare mirror developed by MemoMi, and offers key products packed with next-generation formulas to deliver revitalizing benefits for radiant skin. San Francisco-based retailer b8ta provides a mix of shoppable apparel, accessories, activewear, gadgets and more.
“With The Next Big Thing Concept Shop, Marie Claire, along with MasterCard, will bring to life revolutionary products, concept, and technologies that we love, right from the pages of our October issue,” adds Marie Claire editor-in-chief Anne Fulenwider. “Everything we feature will enable our customers to stay ahead of the curve, fuel creativity and keep feeling fit.”
The Next Big Thing wants to offer consumers a different way to shop and a glimpse into how retailers can revolutionize the brick-and-mortar space in the future.
