On September 25th, 2016, Google’s very own renowned Mountain View campus hosted the prestigious Google Science Fair 2016, a global online science and technology competition open to experimenters and engineers ages 13-18. Inspiring projects such as fighting drought with orange peels and avocado oil and detecting lung cancer through breath tests were presented by 16 finalists from all over the world to Google partners such as LEGO Education, Virgin Galactic, and National Geographic, all competing for the Grand Prize.

Along with cool project presentations, the three-day event consisted of awesome activities like Science Yoga and relay races, family outings and networking time at the “Crash Pads” located around the campus.

The Google Science Fair 2016 concluded with a Community Day Science Playground, where local Bay Area students were given the opportunity to meet the finalists and watch the Award Celebration. Kicking off with a message from the International Space Station, the Awards Celebration was hosted by both Simone Giertz and former Mythbusters host, Kari Byron, ending with a bowling reception!
