Sparks Helps the Homeless at CEMA Summit 2018
July 24, 2018
Philanthropy is part of our DNA here at Sparks. The one thing we love more than doing good ourselves is inspiring others to do good along with us. CEMA Summit 2018 is the perfect opportunity to encourage others to give back!
For our sponsorship of this year’s CEMA Summit at Terranea Resort in California, we bring Clean the World hygiene products and challenge the conference’s 300 attendees to build 3,000 personal hygiene kits in less than 2 hours.
Divided into teams across five stations, attendees assemble kits that include essential life products such as soap, shampoo/conditioner, razors, washcloths, and more. Each volunteer punctuates their kit assembly with a handwritten, personal note of encouragement.
The 3,000 completed kits along with a $3,000 matching Sparks donation is presented to Lava Mae, a local charity that converts public transportation buses into showers and toilets on wheels for use by San Francisco’s unhoused inhabitants.
About Lava Mae
Lava Mae has served 10,000+ guests who have taken 35,000+ showers on their mobile units across Los Angeles and the Bay Area, and innovated one-stop Pop-Up Care Villages to dramatically expand access to essential services for people living on the streets. They’ve also inspired dozens of new mobile hygiene programs across the U.S. and around the world, and recently launched the first-ever open source toolkit + platform to help people everywhere replicate their mobile hygiene service in their own communities.
